Thailand Guru provides several services to help you find the best home, and then to help make your chosen home the best possible place to live. These services consist of:
- Personal Home Guide Service - sit down with you and a map to give you an orientation to Bangkok, drive you around looking at condominiums, apartments, houses, and/or commercial space which fit your needs, and discuss any topics you wish. This is at a daily rate, and we take no commissions for properties you rent or buy. In addition to our own databases of condominium and apartment managers, we will also call any other agents, research Thai language internet and print media, and when driving around call any phone numbers on signs and serve as translator & interpreter. - Electrical Grounding or Earthing - in Thailand, most condos, apartments and houses have only 2-prong outlets, i.e., no grounding (US terminology) or Earthing (British and Australian terminology). This can make you vulnerable to electrical shocks, especially when taking a warm water shower, washing clothes, using electric cookery, and certain other things. Notably, if you come from a 110 volt country, don't know much about electricity, and think that you can safely use a 220-to-110 volt transformer without risk of damaging your equipment, then you'd better read the transformer section of the above article. Of course, you should get a transformer capable of handling the power of your device or else you can fry your device, but you must also be careful to get the polarity correct with your transformer of any rating, with many transformers on the market. Otherwise, you risk damaging your appliances and/or getting shocked.
- Internet Broadband Setup and Home or Office Networking - included in our general computer consulting service, Thailand Guru can help you choose a good broadband service provider, set up your connection, share your connection between multiple computers (portables, desktops), and set up a firewall. Sharing of an internet connection, printers, and data can be by a wireless "wi-fi" system or by conventional ethernet cabling the computers together, your choice. Add-ons can include answering machine, fax, data remote access, security system, video phone, intercom, computerized entertainment system, shared entertainment, recording scheduled TV programs while you are away, and other 21st century home conveniences.
The Thailand Guru, Mr. Mark Prado, originally came to Thailand in 1994 doing communications and computer consulting for the Asia region, his former profession in the USA since the mid-1980s. In 1995, Mark started consulting to the engineering and construction industry in Thailand, and from 1995 to date has gained exposure to many property development projects spread around the Bangkok greater metropolitan region, down the eastern seaboard, and selected other places in Thailand.
In 2000, Mark started to help foreigners looking for a home as part of the Thailand Guru service, in 2003 started the "Thailand Home Search" division originally launched as ThailandHomeSearch.com but rebranded in 2005 as www.kkBkk.com (kkBkk is "Knock Knock BangKoK", and BKK is the widely used slang and formal international abbreviation for Bangkok, e.g., airport luggage tags, DHL, etc.). The property business is incorporated as Prado Property Co., Ltd.
